String based category function

We need a category function that can partition string based categories lexicographically. This ticket is similar to the IntegerCategoryFunction that was introduced as part of #149, except instead of basing the narrowing on integers, it would narrow down on strings. It is probably a good idea to let the following tickets land so that the necessary infrastructure is in place:
