Scrolling problems with static x-axis

Two things:
- the x-axis is not moving along with the blobs; it should
- as the heatmap refreshes to show all the outstanding blobs, this means the blobs jump back towards where they started on a refresh, since the x-axis is scaled rather than staying constant. I think the resolution is to turn auto-scrolling off for now, until the x-axis is constant.
