I've been thinking about the zooming/scrolling thing. At the moment, when new events come in, the heatmap is redrawn to show everything. So if you want to zoom, and you don't have scrolling, you need a way to decide which point to treat as the center. It doesn't seem ideal.
Really, what you want is to be able to drag after you've zoomed, so you don't need to worry about where you zoom. Having said that, it would be good if the zoom did zoom in on a selected blob.
