Revise participant nomenclature in the API and config

Currently we refer (in the vernacular) to applications that partake in the scanning process as participants. In the config however, we refer to the same entities as endpoints. Furthermore, the behavioral trait from the kernel's perspective is called a Participant. So maybe the Endpoint could be renamed to something like Participant Remote Reference.
